Look… if there’s one thing I love to do when I really want to relax, it’s watching a good movie.
It can be on a lazy weekend, after a long day, or even during that little free time between one thing and another. Just pick an app, hit play, and that’s it: world off, story on.
And since I love discovering new things, I tested several movie apps until I found the ones that really work.
No fuss, no freezing, and preferably with free or super affordable options.
So, if you’re also looking for great recommendations, come with me—this list is unmissable!
Pluto TV
First of all, Pluto TV was one of my biggest discoveries recently. Completely free and with a surprisingly good lineup!
It has live channels and an on-demand section packed with movies, divided by category: action, drama, comedy, thriller, romance… all nicely organized!
What I love most is that it doesn’t require any sign-up and it works well even with average internet.
I’ve binged on old movies, cult hits, and even some hidden gems there. Totally worth it!
VIX Cine & TV
Another one that became part of my routine is VIX Cine & TV.
It’s also free and has a really nice selection of movies, especially Latin and indie films—perfect for when you want something a little off the beaten path.
The navigation is simple, titles are updated often, and there are also soap operas and series included.
Whenever I want something different but still high quality, I turn to this app.
Plex
I started using Plex to organize my own videos, but then I discovered it also has a library of movies and series available online—and free!
That’s right. You don’t even need to log in—just open it and start watching.
There’s a ton of great stuff: classics, cult films, documentaries, retro comedies…
It’s perfect for those days when you want to watch something but don’t know exactly what. I always end up finding a pleasant surprise there.
NetMovies
If you, like me, love that early-2000s video rental store vibe, NetMovies will totally win you over.
It has a really cool selection of older films, both Brazilian and international, all free and in excellent quality.
I’ve rewatched several classics that marked my childhood and also discovered some new interesting titles.
You can access it from your phone, TV, or computer, and the app runs really smoothly.
Prime Video
Yes, I use free apps. But I also have my luxury moments—and during those, Prime Video is my go-to.
It has a massive catalog, from new releases to award-winning films, Amazon Originals, and amazing international productions.
I especially love the image quality and the option to download movies to watch offline (it seriously saved me on trips!).
And if you share an account with someone, the value gets even better.
A good movie can change my day and these apps are part of that
Having these movie apps on my phone is like having a private cinema at my fingertips.
Whether I want to laugh, cry, get emotional, or just pass the time, they’re with me anywhere: on the couch, in bed, in a bank line, or even while I’m cooking.
With free and paid options, you can build a mix of apps and never run out of great content to watch.
So, do you already have a favorite movie app?
If not yet—or if you want to refresh your options—try this list and tell me later which one stole your heart!
It’s super easy to download, just search by name in the Android or iOS app store.
Because watching a good movie is great… but watching it easily and without headaches is even better.
Then come back here and tell me what you thought! I hope you love these apps as much as I do!
